Internist practice dr. med. univ. albrecht wenzel Leipzig
In addition to my board certification in general internal medicine, I hold specializations in diabetology and nutritional medicine. I am also certified as an obesity specialist (DAG/DDG) and hypertension specialist (DHL). Treatment in my practice is consistently based on current S3 guidelines from professional societies.
What we do for you
Primary care with internal medicine expertise — for conditions that often go together: weight, blood sugar, blood pressure, and sleep.
Diabetology
Comprehensive diagnosis and individualized treatment planning for type 2 diabetes with modern sensor and therapeutic methods.
Obesity Therapy
Weight reduction according to S3 guideline: BIA measurement, laboratory screening, nutritional counseling — and if needed, GLP-1 therapy.
IGeLSleep Diagnostics & CPAP
Outpatient polygraphy, mobile polysomnography, CPAP initiation at home, and ongoing CPAP management — diagnosis and therapy from one practice.
Nutritional Medicine
Nutritional counseling based on BIA measurement and laboratory values — not by template, but based on what your metabolism actually shows.
BIA Measurement
The scale shows a weight. BIA shows what it consists of: muscle, fat, water.
IGeLLiver Diagnostics
Liver fat measurement as an early marker of metabolic syndrome using quantitative ultrasound elastography.
24-Hour ECG & Blood Pressure
24-hour recordings for arrhythmias and blood pressure profiles that remain hidden during office visits.
Prevention
Check-ups, laboratory screening, 24-hour ECG and blood pressure, ultrasound — we clarify before problems develop.
Laboratory Diagnostics
From routine laboratory tests to HOMA index, adiponectin, and micronutrient profiling.
Of course, also your primary care physician. Acute care, vaccinations, preventive examinations, referrals, and management of chronic diseases are part of our daily work. The services above show where we go particularly deep.
Interconnected Thinking in Internal Medicine
Health is a complex system — we examine the connections between sleep, weight, metabolism, and blood pressure.
Sleep ↔ Weight
Sleep disorders directly affect metabolism and weight regulation. High-quality sleep therapy supports obesity treatment.
Learn more →Metabolism ↔ Blood Pressure
Insulin resistance and hypertension often share the same background: the metabolic syndrome with visceral adiposity. Hyperinsulinemia activates the sympathetic system and promotes renal sodium reabsorption — both drive up blood pressure. Reducing weight and improving insulin sensitivity often lowers blood pressure as well.
Learn more →Diagnostics ↔ Therapy
First measure, then act: BIA, laboratory tests, sleep screening, and ultrasound show where the real problem lies — and what can be changed concretely.

Some questions require specialists. That's why we work closely with partners we know and trust.
